It is a footed bowl with a flared bowl done in a lovely dark blue/purple color. There are some bubbles in the glass and the makeup of the foot lead us to believe it to be from the late 19th to early 20th century. The bowl measures 4 1/4" diameter at the top and is 2 1/8” high and is 1 ½” diameter at the base. As Peking glass makers experimented with their craft, they delighted in coming up with formulae that could simulate various minerals such as jade, hardstones, agates, etc. This is a classic simulation of nephrite jade with slight streakiness in the interior to replicate the natural striations in jade. There is a very thin layer of whitish glass lining the interior of the neck. ...click for details
