This small Chinese “mutton fat white” jade bangle as a decoration to be hung from a gold or silk chain. Or it may have been made for an infant or a child as it only measures 1 ľ” diameter. The color is classic mutton fat with its silky soft white coloration. It is almost impossible to determine the exact age of the piece – to be safe we will date it to the late 19th to early 20th century, Qing dynasty. One end is flat and the other has the usual smooth rounded form typical of these rings. A delicately carved Chinese nephrite jade fingering piece. The jade is a light celadon color with an area of russet color that has been carved in the form of leaves and vines - the celadon area is in the form of the gourd itself. Jade, like amber, was believed to have magical properties, so that the fingering of such a piece brought luck or healing. A nicely carved light celadon to opaque white Chinese nephrite jade toggle. It is carved in the shape of a boy holding a flower or branch (possibly peach) over his left shoulder – excellent hand carving. Toggles were roughly the Chinese equivalent of Japanese netsuke – mainly used as pendants as opposed to the Japanese item, which kept inro from slipping through the tie of a kimono.
