This is a lovely orange/amber colored snuff bottle made of chalcedony. It is a nice size – measuring 2” high by 1 ¾” wide by 1 1/8” thick – not including the stopper, When held to the light there are some cloudy areas in the stone. The stopper is a white agate with streaks of rust orange and the spoon is made of bamboo. We believe it is possible that this could be the original stopper - there is a crack in the top piece. The bottle has a very well formed foot and is very well hollowed. We date ...click for details

Because of is fragility when carved it is very difficult to carve without splitting the bamboo. Here we have a superb example of a bamboo snuff bottle in excellent condition. We have many books on the great snuff bottle collections in the world and have only found 2-3 bamboo bottles out of thousands of bottles. ...click for details
