This large fragment measures11 ¼” long by 9 ½” high by 2 ½” thick and is made of the stone known as schist. The head itself measures 4” high by 2 5/8” wide by 2 5/8” deep. The stand is 2 ½” by 3 ½” by 4” high. The head is in generally good condition for a stucco item that is over 1800 years old. The nose of the Buddha has a large chip missing – the other details are intact. Even with the problem to the nose, the Buddha still has a wonderfully serene expression.
