The doll is rich in detail, it was well modeled in an artfully executed pose. The one-piece body is finished in white gofun (crushed oyster shell), and the expressive facial features are delicately hand painted. It is in the form of a crawling infant with a red bib and a red ribbon around his waist – on the bottom is a multi colored striped cloth square. The doll is an original kamo ningyo in that it is made of willow wood with the face and hands left unfinished.
