A Japanese bone ivory jarlet with an inscribed design of cranes standing in a clump of irises with their long leaves. The lid of the jarlet has a deep relief carving of a mum. The jarlet measures 2" high and is 1 1/2" diameter. We date the piece to the late Meiji period. Excellent condition.
