This is a remarkable Japanese bronze/copper alloy figure of a seated tiger with a ferocious countenance. The piece is quite large and – although it is hollow – is quite heavy. The detail work on the casting is superb – the stripes, the fierce snarling expression with teeth bared, the long tail curled back over the right leg – every aspect of the animal is executed in precise detail. The tiger measures 15” long by 12” high by 8” wide and is in superb condition. We date it to the early Meiji perio ...click for details

This is a very well cast Japanese bronze dragon in a long stretched out position. The detailing is excellent in every respect – the horns, the scales, the fierceness of the face etc. The bronze measures 9” long by 2 ½” high by 2” thick. There are two square holes in the bottom of the piece, which we believe us think that it might have been a handle to some larger bronze – at any rate it displays quite well on its own. The dragon is in excellent condition with no cracks or missing parts - we da ...click for details

$295.00

An unusual Japanese bronze seal with a very detailed casting of a Shi Shi temple dog on the top. The Shi Shi is in a standing position with a ball in its hands. ( If this were a 20th century piece one could almost believe that the Shi Shi is preparing to shoot a free throw shot in a basketball game). The Shi Shi stands on a square base that it dropped at the four corners to meet the solid bronze base. On the base there are large characters of the seal – not translated – in which there are remnan ...click for details

$625.00

A highly detailed metal sculpture of a Japanese. We believe the piece is solid bronze from its weight and looking at it closely at the boom of the robe. Yet, there is a small patch on the right side of the oni just under his elbow that is lightly scraped and it looks as if the piece might be of a heavy metal that has been bronze plated. It does not attract a magnet - so we know it is not steel or iron based. Whatever the metal, it is a superb portrayal of an Oni holding a four legged pot on his ...click for details
