ICHIBAN STARTING TO CLOSE DOWN. We are starting to close down our business, a process that will take us a couple of years - age and health issues tell us it is time. We still have over 1300 items either currently listed on our website catalog or still to be posted onto it. So, from now on ALL ITEMS IN THE CATALOG MAY BE PURCHASED AT 40 % OFF THE LISTED PRICE. At these low prices, we do ask that you pay shipping and insurance charges for all items purchased. We reserve the right to require a 15 % re-stocking fee in cases where the reason for the return is suspect. $625.00

Frowning seated Jizo Bosatsu in prayer, Meiji Era (1868-1912). A prayerful attitude on occasion does not go beyond the clasped hands. Judging from the looks of things, this Jizo is praying not so much for the release from suffering of innocent children as for divine relief from the private torments of obesity. Both seated and fully grimacing, this Jizo is an intriguing departure from the blissed-out Jizo types that one typically encounters. Suitable both for garden and serious collection. Fascinating wooden carving of a Japanese Buddhist monk or priest standing on a lotus base on top of a gilded cylindrical base. The monk has a superbly expressive face - both wise and tranquil. The mandala is a separate pieces that fits into a slot on the base. The base itself is 5 3/4" tall - so the total piece measure ...click for details

$675.00

A beautiful full figure of the Kannon Bosatsu/Bodhisattva. In this pose/position, he would normally in his left hand be holding a Lotus stem. The wooden Bodhisattva figure is from a travel shrine. The Bodhisattva is seated on a lotus blossom on an elaborate throne and has a superb Mandala curving over the back with stylized clouds design. The left hand has early damage as the fingers are missing and the ball that would have probably been in the hand is missing. This haunting figure stands a fu ...click for details
