This is a round Annamese jarlet with underglaze decorations of two fish and flowers. The top near the rim has a ring of swirling blue lines. The piece measures 2” high by 2 ¼” diameter at the waist. The jarlet has a slightly yellow cast to it and it has a crackle finish. The piece is in generally good condition for such an old piece – only a minor chip to the rim.

This is a very striking 16th covered bowl from Northern Thailand. It has an incised design in brown glaze over a whitish glaze base. The design is that of phoenix birds - both standing and flying. The top cover and the shoulders of the bowl have a design of a band of triangular points pointing towards the center finial.

This is a Sawankhalok pottery small covered round box used for paste or cosmetic boxes. The censer has a gray stoneware body with a underglaze blue and iron brown painted directly onto the clay and then a thin glaze put on top. The design on both top and bottom is a freely drawn floral and geometric design. The glaze stops near the base of the censer. The pot has a light brown finial on top. This is a handsome charger in underglaze blue and white from the Sawankhalok district in the northern part of Sukhothai Province, northern Thailand. The charger has a fine design of six stylized flowers surrounding a central reserve of a calligraphic figure – not translated. This is a rare form of Sawankhalok pottery in that it is made to resemble a censer. The most common of Sawankhalok items are small covered round boxes used for paste or cosmetic boxes. This is an early and simple Vietnamese low bowl with a pale tannish celadon glaze with a crackle finish. The top and the bottom of the bowl are glazed, but the interior of the footed rim has some glaze drips but is primarily unglazed natural clay. The glaze tended to run unevenly in some areas, making for an unusual pattern. It has an interesting rim that is wider than one would expect and has a dip surrounding it. An Annamese blue and white jarlet in an unusual form – it is square with rounded corners and a round top. The short round neck of the piece has two soft blue cobalt rings. Then the shoulder has a group of four lappets flowing from the center of the top to the tops of the four corners. This is a superb Khmer (Cambodian) brown glaze lime pot dating to the 11th-12th century. The pottery is glazed with a dark brown glaze – then a design of vertical rib stripes are around the pot and the top rim has a band of connecting geometric squares incised. A handsome covered paste or cosmetic box from 15th century Vietnam, Le Dynasty. The piece measures 3” diameter and is 2” high. The sides are covered with geometric designs in underglaze cobalt blue – the top has a large stylized flower in the same underglaze cobalt blue. The interior is glazed a pure white, The base has what appears to be a light coat of glaze except on the foot rim. A fine large Sawankalok bowl dating from sometime in the early fourteenth to middle 16th century. The outer sides of the bowl have two horizontal bands that were obviously made by dark blue/black ink covered stamps and then the overall bowl was glazed. On the inside of the bowl is not decorated with the exception of a single eight pointed reserve with a design inside – the inner design is slightly off center.
