This is a quite beautiful miniature painting on gold leaf with a picture of a falconer with his falcon perched on his left hand. The painting is mounted on thick paper that could be some form of parchment. The paper has some toning and fading but the painting of the falconer is in excellent condition with just one small smudge in the lower right corner and a light stain on the right edge. This hollow full round Etruscan head is of a young man with a slight smile to his expression – probably a votive head. The head is well worn from the centuries, yet still has enough detail to get a good feel for the face and excellent detail to the hair. There are faint traces of polychrome paint remaining in a couple of area. The head measures 2 7/8" high by 2" wide by 2 1/2" deep. When mounted on its custom stand, the piece is 6 1/2" high. A PERSIAN QAJAR BRASS SCRIBES SET - an enclosed metal brush holder used when by a Persian scribe. The hinged bowl held the thick,pasty ink and the hollow handle held the long handled brush. This fine example is unembellished with a stylized geometric floral pattern -probably of lotus buds. The ink pot has a hinged lid with a swiveling lock to hold it closed . The piece measures 7 3/8" in length. - the ink pot is 1 3/4" by 1".
