It has a hidden design of a band of flowers under the green outer color which starts just under the shoulder of the vase and extends downward about 4” towards the base. The vase has chrome rims and is not signed. We date it to the middle Showa period, most probably around the 1950s. The vase measures 8 3/4"H by 4 1/2" diameter at its widest. It is in excellent condition. The pitcher measures 6 ¾” high to the top of the finial – is 7 ¾” diameter from the tip of the spout to the back of the handle and the main body of the pitcher is 3 ½” diameter. There is an impressed mark on the lower side of the piece which we have not been able to identify. The pitcher is in excellent condition. We date it to the mid 20th century, circa 1950-1970s. Shino ware was almost as highly prized by Teamasters as Raku ware. They admired the simple hand-made shapes and the unpredictable results produced by the thick glaze and the low-temperature firing, which produced uneven effects of texture and colouring.
