This is a handsome simple bronze vase in the shape of a bent double gourd. It has a wide opening for use in ikebana arrangements and a "frog" in the base of the inside for holding the flowers.

This is a quite handsome round kogo - covered box - made of nickel with copper overlays. The top of the box has an elaborately detailed carving of a phoenix or ho-o bird. This is a sweet little water coupe with the lovely soft blue glaze color that distinguishes Qingbai ceramics. It measures 2 3/8” diameter at the top - 3” diameter at the widest - 2” diameter at the base and is1 ½” high. It is in generally good condition. We believe that the top has been ground down for some reason some time in the past. We very much believe that the coupe could be from the Song dynasty based on the clay and the glaze. This is a nice 20th century metal toy samurai sword that would be presented to a boy on Boys Day – traditionally held on March 3rd. The sword was intended to imbue in the boy a sense of honor and strength as shown by the samurai of old. This miniature sword is made of metal and is intricately made with simulated sharks skin handle, a tiny sword guard (tsuba) and a decorated scabbard with a relief dragon going down the side. This is a sweet little bronze okimono of Daikoku - also known as Daikokuten. The casting measures 4" high and is 3" wide by 3 1/3" deep. The condition is excellent and the patina is quite nice. We date it to the late Meiji to early Taisho period, circa 1890 - 1920.

This is a Japanese handled bronze mirror (e-kagami) with an impressed design of several cranes flying around pine trees and a stream. There are two large Kanji characters in the middle and a long inscription in Kanji - neither of which had translated. These mirrors were often used as wedding gifts. The mirror is 7 ½” diameter and - with the handle – measures 10 1/8” long – it is 1/8” thick.
