A lovely watercolor of a beautiful lady - a bijen-ga - done by an unknown Japanese artist. We believe the painting dates from the early to mid twentieth century - early Showa period. Measures 21 1/2" by 15 1/2" - there is a tear of about 2" in the top margin - but is underneath the area where the painting was formerly matted and framed. Slight toning from mat burn - but still a lovely watercolor with fine color and details. Unsigned - but obviously done by a very talented artist.
