(A barbers bowl is a ceramic bowl with one side indented to make room for the chin of the person to be shaved.) The bowl measures 10” diameter and it 3” deep. It is in excellent condition with no chips or problems. The long thin brown line is the glaze crawling in the kiln – not a hairline. It has a particularly attractive glaze. The underglaze appears to be a tan glaze at the lower section of the vase – then a dark brown glaze on the tapered section at the top. Then an iron design of plants was drawn on the tan glaze at the bottom half. The kogo is covered with an unctuous thick grayish white glaze and portrays a fine ram resting in a reclining position with an alert expression on its face. The horns are outlined in gold.
