They are done in red lacquer with raised black designs - each dish has a different design. The only designs that we can recognize are the ones with irises and the one with what appears to be holly tree with berries. There is an old Canadian customs stamp on the base of one of the cups. It would appear to have been applied in May of 2005. We date the four dishes from the early Showa period, circa 1930-1960. They are in excellent condition. ...click for details
