| This is a small but quite handsome nephrite jade water coupe used by the scholars for dipping their pens in water while doing calligraphy. It is made of a mottled grey nephrite jade and has been carved to have an interesting pebbled surface. It is in excellent condition with no chips. The coupe measures 2" long by 1 1/4" wide by 1 1/8" deep. We date it to sometime in the late Qing dynasty, circa 1820s-1890s. | |||||||||
