| This is an Itto-bori (one knife carving) of a standing Daruma. It was made from a single branch of wood – very fine grained. The piece is quite well carved with a very handsome face and excellent detail to the garment and whisk. The piece stands 6 7/8” high and is 2 ½” diameter. It is in excellent condition – some natural cracks in the wood that are stable. Notice the fine grain in the polished top of the head. We date it to the late Meiji to Taisho period, circa 1900-1925. | ||||||||||||||
