| 18th Century or earlier carved wooden figure of a seated shogun or possibly even the Emperor. The head is covered in gesso - cracked and missing in a some areas - the body is lacquered. The figure has an immense sword that is almost as long as he would be tall if standing. Great expression on the face. Wear normal for a wooden figure of this age - we date it from mid to late Edo period. Measures 7 ¾" high x 7" wide x 7 ½" deep from the end of his sword hilt to the end of the sword. | |||||||||||||
