Fine Studio Red Raku Tea Bowl (Chawan)
Red raku tea bowl with a lot of color from the kiln. Impressed repeated chrysanthemum border. There is a tiny chip on the foot, but it doesn’t really show from the side. This is from a large collection of an American diplomat who lived in Japan. His collection included pieces by Mashiko potters like Shoji Hamada, and Totaro Sakuma. Measures 4" diameter by just under 2" high. We date this studio piece from the early to mid 20th century.
