| This is a very old and charming cherry wood otsuzumi or drum body probably dating sometime in the late Edo period. It may have been covered with a lacquered design at one time - if so, that has long since been worn away with usage and the body now has the fine rich patina. . Beautifully handturned hourglass form with a turned inner core. Signature near the edge on the inner side. Very good condition. Height 11 1/2 in. Diameter at ends 4 5/8 in. | |||||||
