| A most unusual Chinese pottery figural group molded to depict four people in a boat - two ladies with an attendant and a boatman. The position of the attendant and his hands would indicate that this figure was holding something - probably an umbrella to shade the court ladies during their boating outing. The boatman is seen laying down and poling the boat through the water. The entire piece (except for the unglazed base) is covered in bright over glaze enamels. The piece measures 9 3/4" by 4 1/2" wide by 3 1/2" high. Excellent condition. We date the piece to the mid to late 19th century, Qing Dynasty. There is an impressed signature on the base - not translated. | |||||||||||||||
