| An excellent single overlay snuff bottle in elongated flattened oval form. A red overlay atop a snowflake ground and set on a well defined raised oval foot. Carved through the red overlay are two well defined and crisp dragons that curl around the two sides one over the other and both chasing the sacred pearl. A soft celadon colored stopper with an ivory spoon probably not the original The bottle measures just under 2 5/8" tall exclusive of the stopper and is 1 5/8" wide at its widest by 5/8" thick. Excellent condition there is one minuscule chip to the end of the uppermost dragons tail had to look long and hard with a loupe to find it. Dates from the mid to late 19th century. A wonderfully detailed design and quite deeply carved with sharp edges throughout. | ||||||||||||
