| A fine silver alloy hexagonal lidded box – believed to be used for betel nuts or some kind of snuff. The box is finely chased with scene of two people seated under a canopy on the lid – and on the base is a raised design of a fierce tiger or leopard like animal. On the six sides are birds in branches and flowering scenes in each reserve like side. The box measures 1 3/4" from point to point and is 1 1/2" thick to the tops of the domed tops and bottom. Excellent condition – old patina – no cracks or restorations. We date this to the late 19th century. | ||||||||||||
