Interesting subject of a woman peering out of a window. This Japanese oban print has an image size of approx. 9 3/8 inches wide by 12 3/4 inches high. The Print is in very good condition considering it’s age. There is an interesting faint notation on the back, penciled in English script, -- UTAGAWA TOYOKUNI (1769-1825) -- however, i think this one is actually by Toykuni III. The paper is very thin with a few small wormholes scattered along the left hand edge. The ink has good penetration in the paper. There are no apparent stains or creases. With proper and discriminating mounting this print would be an excellent addition to a collection of ukiyo-e. Eastern Print Collection. The print was purchase in the mid 60’s from a Far Eastern Antique Dealer in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. It is not matted or framed and needs to be dry mounted with acid free matting.
