Late Edo-Early Meiji Bronze Mirror
A Japanese bronze mirror with polished surface on one side -- the reflection side - and a detailed design of flying cranes in clouds on the back. The side with the design is accentuated with hundreds of impressed dots that set out the cranes and clouds in low relief. There was once a handle - now long since broken off. The mirror measures 4 7/8" diameter and is 1/8" thick - fine patina and condition. We date the piece to the late Edo to early Meiji period, circa 1850-1875.
