| A Japanese chawan with a granular tannish glaze over a darker tan clay – decorated with three yellow water lily buds with green leaves. There is a circular stacking ring in the bottom of the bowl – caused in the kiln when several pieces are stacked one of top of the other prior to firing. The base of the chawan is unglazed. The piece measures 5 ½” diameter and is 2 ½” high – it dates from the mid to late Meiji period, circa 1880-1900 and is in excellent condition. Not signed. | |||||||||||||
