Fine Cabinet Japanese Gin Bari Cloisonne Vase
Very fine late Meiji 19th Century Japanese Cloisonne Ginbari Vase. The piece measures 2 1/2" in height, and features a beautiful floral decoration. The vase was made by wrapping silver foil around the metal body, and then decorating with silver/copper wire and colored enamel flowers. The vase was then finished with a see-through enamel cover. As the photographs show, the piece is in excellent condition with absolutely no chips, cracks or scratches - a tiny hint of rust near the bottom edge on one side. The seal of the maker is also shown on the base. In looking at the standard reference book "Japanese Cloisonne" by Coben and Ferster, I believe this is the mark of noted artist Ota Tameshiro. This gorgeous piece will make a superb addition to anyone's collection of Japanese decorative arts.
