A Japanese Arita Dish- Landscape Design-Edo/Meiji

A small early Japanese Arita dish with a fairly complex design in underglaze light blue cobalt. On the right side of the dish we find a three story house or temple nestled against a tall cliff. In the center of the dish is a willow tree on the bank of a small lake. A bridge spans an inlet in the lake and two people can be seen walking across the bridge. Out on the lake can be seen two small fishing boats. At the upper right we see a distant pagoda half hidden by some foothills. Overhead are two birds circling the scene.

The edge of the dish is lightly scalloped and has a band of geometric circles in a darker cobalt blue. The back of the dish has some low foothills on the bottom rim and then a six-character mark in the center of the low foot. This mark has been translated as "Ttakebayashi Sei(made)". We date the dish to the late 18th to early 19th century, Edo Period. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restorations.
