A Pair of Meiji Bronze Urns – Elephant Handles
A matched pair of Japanese bronze vase urns with elephant head handles. On the sides are low relief castings of figures – they appear to be priests or lohans holding a small covered jar in their left hands. The pair measure 5” high and are 4” wide at the handles. They are not signed – condition is excellent with a nice old patina. We date them to the mid to late Meiji period, circa 1880-1910.
