Yes we realize that this is a site for Asian Antiques but this fine ancient Roman ring is so lovely that we had to purchase it and offer it to our clients. This is a charming tiny ancient Roman ring made of what appears to be a bronze alloy and set with a small amethyst stone. The metal has superb old patina and the amethyst stone is still very securely fastened in its setting. The ring is an oval shape. We have used an on-line ring sizer to determine its size. By sitting the ring on top of the sizer we have determined that the ring is just between a size 4 and a size 4.5 which translate to a dimension of 14.8mm to 15.2mm. If ordering for use, the guidelines say to take the larger dimension, so we believe it would be just perfect as a size 4.5mm pinky ring. We believe it dates from the period of 100-300 A.D. based on similar examples found in our research. It is in excellent condition and is definitely wearable. |
