A Japanese Bronze Koro in the Shape of a Shi Shi
This is a fine early bronze koro shaped like a fat shi shi. The top of the piece lifts off and attaches to the bottom with a small prong that fits into a small hole in the base. The bronze is nicely detailed and has an excellent patina. We date it to the late Edo to early Meiji period, circa 1850-1880s. The koro measures 3” long by 2 ½” wide by 3” high. It is in excellent condition.
