| This is a fun okimono of Daruma in a standing position and with a fierce glare on his face. The entire piece with the exception of his robe is glazed in a lovely thick celadon glaze. The face is unglazed and is very well carved to highlight Daruma’s expression. On the base of the okimono there is a two character impressed mark. It has been loosely translated as "Kyusetsu" or "Kyuwa" - second letter is hard to recognize. The piece measures 8 5/8” high by 3 ¼” wide by 3 ¼” deep and is in excellent condition. We date it to the Taisho to early Showa period, circa 1920s-1930s. | |||||||||||
