This is a superb example of the Golden Age in Japanese cloisonne dating from about 1880s-1910. This tapered vase has a midnight blue ground and a lovely simple design of a green bamboo stalks with leaves climbing up the vase. The vase measure 6 1/4" high - is 2 1/8" diameter at the shoulder - and is 1 1/8" diameter at the base. The vase is signed and a Japanese colleague has translated the signature as "SHOGUN". It is in excellent condition - no chips - no cracks - no restorations. It comes with its own unsigned box. |
