A Long Vertical Print by Haku Maki - "ZEN-8106"
This is a fine simple print by the Sosaku-hanga master, Haku Maki. The print is titled “ZEN-8106” and is framed in a plain light brown wooden frame. It is in excellent condition – no chips or tears – not examined out of the frame. The print measures 27” by 11” in the frame.

Haku Maki specialized in mixed media. Blakemore in "Who's Who in Modern Japanese Prints" -wet cement and the use of Chinese characters as design motifs. The cement on which the designs are inscribed can be worked deeply and precisely, creating prints that look very different from those embossed through other processes." Maki passed away in 2000; as a result his prints are rapidly escalating in price and value as this talented artist will no longer be producing his unique work.

I am very happy to advise all of you fans of Haku Maki that a very good friend and colleague of ours, Dr. Daniel Tretiak, has now published the definitive book on Maki’s works and life. Dan is one of the foremost collectors and authorities on Maki in the world. The book can be found in Amazon books with this title-The Life and Works of Haku Maki (Paperback) - by Dr. Daniel Tretiak (Author)”. This long awaited book is a must for every collector of Maki prints.
