This is a Chinese brush pot for the scholars desk - made of a bamboo node. The piece has an carved scene of a landscape with tall mountains, a river with boats and a small village. The carving is well detailed and the patina is very good. Unfortunately there is a split in the pot that runs down one side. There is a signature on the bottom - not translated. The piece measures 4 1/2" high by 3 3/8" diameter. We date it to the late Qing, circa 1900-1915. |
